Mister Zimi is a fashion label that was born on holiday. Back in 2007 Zoe Paul took a trip to Bali with her husband Jimi. After playing around with some leather jacket sketches on the beach, she decided to get them made at a local tailors.
5 days, 2 suntans and far too many cocktails later, a parcel arrived at their villa labelled “Mister Zimi”, Zoe cautiously opened the package. Little did she know that the contents of this package would change her life forever…Little did she know that they would pack up their life in Melbourne and call bali ‘home’.
Inside was a perfectly fitting, hand made leather jacket. The jacket became Zoe’s wardrobe’s best friend, Zoe’s best friends became eager for her to return to Bali; keen to get the same perfect fitting.
From then on, each holiday was spent on the tropical island;trying out new styles and fabrics, making customised long leather boots for tall friends and cute bespoke summer dresses for others. Soon Zoe was coming back with suitcases full of bikinis, bags and purses. As customers turned from friends to friends of friends, to random passers-by, Zoe and Jimi decided it was time to get a bigger suitcase.
In 2010 Zoe and Jimi turned their holiday into their everyday and bought a one way ticket to Bali. Being greeted at the airport as Mister Zimi, they realised the orignal parcel had been a blend of both their names and the label was born.
